Malaysia Airlines (MAS) is launching its new A350 on the KL-London route on 15th January 2018. Currently, MAS uses their three-class A380s for their two daily flights to London Heathrow from KLIA. According to reports, the new A350 will start off by serving one of the two flights until early March when MAS will receive two more A350s to operate both its daily London services with A350s.
In total MAB will be leasing six A350s and the other two aircraft will be deployed on regional services. CEO Peter Bellew has, for the time being, abandoned plans for a return to Amsterdam, Frankfurt and Paris CDG. According to flightglobal.com the A350s will cost 30% to operate on the London route compared to the A380s as the former has only two engines while the latter has four.
