Lucky Air, a low cost carrier based in Kunming and a member of the HNA group, launched its first flight on February 26, 2006. The airline has five operating bases which include Kunming and Lijiang in Yunnan, Chengdu and Mianyang in Sichuan, as well as Zhengzhou in Henan. The airline is one of the four founding members of the U-FLY Alliance.
As of July 2017, Lucky Air has a fleet of 45 aircrafts, and its 108 routes (20 international routes, 88 domestic routes) involves 30 provinces, municipalities, eight countries and 86 cities. In Malaysia, Lucky Air operates four weekly flights from Kuala Lumpur and Kota Kinabalu and two weekly flights from Penang to Kunming with B737-800 aircraft.
