If you once sighed at the thought of visa applications to pass through Beijing, stop. The capital city has just announced its six-day visa-free policy that extends to the Tianjin and Hebei provinces as well. This means that stopover conferences or short work trips to the city can now be a visa-free affair.
A similar policy was previously introduced for Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Zhejiang provinces too. As the South China Morning Post reports, the new Beijing limited days visa-free policy came into effect on 28 December 2017. It covers travellers holding passports from 53 countries, including most in the European Union and the US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, and South Korea.
These new implementations are the latest of the country’s efforts to improve and enhance the experience of traveling in China. Previously, a very welcomed change was when the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) relaxed its mobile usage restrictions while on an aircraft. Business travellers were not allowed to use their smartphones during flights, even while in airplane mode, prior to the change.
